Winston Salem State University (WSSU) Charlotte - Queen City Rams Alumni Chapter Scholarship Discipline: General Award: Three (3) incoming freshmen at $1,000 each. Requirements: The scholarship is limited to deserving students of Mecklenburg, Cabarrus and Gaston County. Sallie Mae: Make College Happen Challenge
How do your students plan to pay for college? That is the question students ages 14-18 will answer as a part of Sallie Mae’s “Make College Happen Challenge.” The contest will reward 10 high school students who creatively communicate their plan to pay for college in videos, photos, essays, songs or poems. The challenge will award a first place prize of $10,000; second place $5,000; third place $2,500; and $1,000 to seven semifinalists. Students may submit their entries October 15 through December 15.
The 10 finalists will be announced in January based on creativity of entry, effective communication of the message and potential of their plan. The public will then have the opportunity to choose their favorite entry from the 10 finalists by voting online for a week in February. Top online voting entries, combined with the judges’ scores will determine the contest winners who will be announced in March.

Sallie Mae: Make College Happen Challenge
How do your students plan to pay for college? That is the question students ages 14-18 will answer as a part of Sallie Mae’s “Make College Happen Challenge.” The contest will reward 10 high school students who creatively communicate their plan to pay for college in videos, photos, essays, songs or poems. The challenge will award a first place prize of $10,000; second place $5,000; third place $2,500; and $1,000 to seven semifinalists. Students may submit their entries October 15 through December 15.
The 10 finalists will be announced in January based on creativity of entry, effective communication of the message and potential of their plan. The public will then have the opportunity to choose their favorite entry from the 10 finalists by voting online for a week in February. Top online voting entries, combined with the judges’ scores will determine the contest winners who will be announced in March.

WTS Transportation You Scholarship
Amount: Recipients will receive $1,000. WTS fosters the development of women and girls in the transportation field by encouraging bright new professionals and students to undertake careers in the area of transportation. One way it does this is by awarding the Transportation YOU High School Scholarship to girls pursuing high school studies in science, technology, engineering, and math.
To apply: The minimum criteria for selection are: Applicant must be a high school senior, GPA of 3.0 or higher, Currently studying math, science, and technology and Considering a career in a transportation-related field. Applications must be submitted through local WTS chapters as typed word documents. Scholarships are competitive and based on the applicant's specific transportation goals, academic record, and transportation-related activities or job skills. National awards will be presented on May 19, 2016, and attendance at the awards dinner is strongly recommended. Local chapters may have additional requirements, such as personal interviews or higher GPA. Please contact your local WTS chapter at the address listed below for specifics. NC Wesleyan College
Amount: One time $1,000 towards financial aid.
Criteria: Students that apply and get accepted by December 15th and have a 3.0 GPA 900 SAT(Reading and Math) or 19 ACT will qualify for a one-time $1,000 scholarship to go towards their financial aid.

Golden Door Scholars
Amount: Varies. 50 scholarships will be given out to high-performing undocumented high school seniors that is new to the area.
Criteria: Golden Door Scholars is a nonprofit that promotes economic mobility for high-performing Dreamers, undocumented students protected by Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA), through financial support, mentor-ship, and professional development. In partnership with private colleges and universities, we help guide DACA students through college and prepare them for careers after graduation. We currently have scholars at Wake Forest University, Swarthmore College, Davidson College and many more distinguished institutions. Our goal is to extend scholarships to up to 50 students for the 2016/2017 academic year.

The Gates Millennium Scholars Program
Amount:
Criteria: To be eligible students need to:
- Be African American, American Indian/Alaska Native, Asian American/Pacific Islander or Hispanic American;
- Be citizens, legal permanent residents or nationals of the United States;
- Have a cumulative GPA of 3.3 on an unweighted 4.0 scale or earned a GED;
- Have demonstrated leadership abilities through participation in community service, extracurricular or other activities;
- Meet Federal Pell Grant eligibility criteria;
- Enroll for the first time at a U.S. located , accredited college or university (with the exception of students concurrently pursuing a high school diploma) in the fall as a full-time, degree seeking, first year student;
- Have completed and submitted their application by the deadline; and
- Have the following forms completed and submitted by the deadline on their behalf:
- A Nominator Form - an evaluation of the student's academic record, and;
- A Recommender Form - an evaluation of the student's community service and leadership activities.

Piedmont Eye Care
Amount: $500
Criteria: A High school graduating senior that will be attending post-secondary educational institution in the fall of 2016. Must be involved in any extra-curricular activities. Piedmont Eye care will choose one male and one female student from each school to receive this scholarship.

Boston University Trustee Scholarship Competition
Amount: 15 Winners will receive full tuition paid for four years.
Criteria: Trustee Scholars rank at the top of their classes and demonstrate exceptional leadership in their schools and communities. This scholarship attracts students with outstanding academic ability and potential to inspire fellow students to excel.

2016 GE-Reagan Foundation Scholarship Foundation Program
Amount: $10,000 a year renewable for 4 years ($40,000)
Criteria: This national program awards scholarships to graduating high school seniors who embody the characteristics of President Ronald Reagan at school, in the community, in the workplace and at home. We are looking for students with leadership, integrity, drive and citizenship.

What: The Juniors and Seniors Transitional Program along with the Charlotte Housing Authority Scholarship Fund is excited about the upcoming Scholarship fair, sponsored by The Infinite Scholars Program.
